The Kendleshire

The Golf Course.

The Hollows & Ruffet Courses were opened in the summer of 1997 to much acclaim. Designed by Adrian Stiff, the courses were set into the rolling Frome valley with plenty of water and a thrilling combination of pretty holes from the forgiving to the downright challenging. In the summer of 2002 the two courses were joined by the Badminton Course, designed by Peter McEvoy to follow the same lines but with his very own twist.

Each of the courses has its own stand-out holes, and when played in any combination offer the visiting golfer just as much enjoyment as the home one. The white tees provide a very stern test, however from the yellow posts there are plenty of pars and birdies to be had.

Golfers are able to choose which of our three courses they would like to play. Whichever you choose, you are sure to encounter your fair share of water! The 4th and 9th highlight the Hollows Course, with 11 and 16 certain to provide fun on the Ruffet. The Badminton Course has the formidable 21st and 27th, bound to raise your heart rate.

All of the greens are built to USPGA standard and are the foundation of the course’s reputation, and as such the club has always had a soft spikes only policy . This has paid rich dividends as far as maintaining the quality of the putting surfaces.

Regular visits by the County & England players and leading professionals, as well as the hosting of major competitions such as the County Championships in 2008 and the Reid Trophy in 2009, speak volumes for the standard of the facilities.

Practice Facilities.

We all appreciate the hard work and preparation that goes into a good round of golf and the Kendleshire is becoming a regional centre of excellence. Our driving range uses grass tees all year round and is open daily during daylight hours.

Sitting next to the Driving Range is "The Academy Course", our six hole par-3 course. This is perfect for a pre-round warm-up, to hone a particular part of your short game, or just to get some golfing in if you only have a short time frame available. The Academy is also perfect for new golfers, and our coaching staff make regular use of it during lessons. Access to The Academy costs £3 for unlimited use in one day, payable in the Pro Shop (where you can also collect a scorecard).

Ten years ago we designed and installed a purpose-built short game area - "The Zone". This facility is based around a three-layer green, with a variety of different grasses, bunker shots and lies that you may wish to use during your short game improvement. It is used regularly by County teams and elite players, and known in the area as a valuable tool to help hone a part of the game that many overlook! Use of The Zone is available as part of an annual membership of £75 - which includes an introductory golf lesson.

    Green Fees & Charges.

The following fees and charges are applicable from 1st April 2017 to 31st March 2018.

These are the charges for 18 holes, using any of our three courses. 9 hole rates are all half price.

'Guests' are classified as non-members playing with a current club member, and each member can invite up to 3 guests at any one time.

Golfers bearing valid 'County Cards' will be charged at Guest rate.

Buggies are generally available throughout the year on our Hollows & Ruffet Course (restricted to the paths during particularly bad weather or ground conditions). There is currently no path on our Badminton Course so they are available there when ground conditions allow.

Our visitor rate for an 18hole round is £30, and £15 for 9holes. A £10 deposit is taken for all buggy hires, refundable on return of the key.
